POLITICAL ACTION WITH THE WITCHING HOUR 4/26

MORE THAN JUST ROCKS: A STORY OF SELENITE Reading POLITICAL ACTION WITH THE WITCHING HOUR 4/26 6 minutes Next MEDITATION RECORDING: TAURUS NEW MOON

The Witching Hour is HausWitch’s attempt to help our community stay accountable for their activism. We call representatives, senators and other government officials from around the Salem, MA area about things we care about and donate to local causes.

The next Hour is May 10th at 7pm at the shop. Can’t make it to The Witching Hour? Too far away? Thinking about starting your own accountability group? Two words: Do it! Email cheryl@hauswitch.com if you need guidance.

ALSO: 30% of the proceeds from the Resist candle in the shop go to the ACLU. Great scent, great cause. Win-win, y'all.

MBTA Summer Weekend Closure Protest Tuesday 5/2 @ 6:30pm in Beverly

We’ll be meeting at 191 Cabot St in Beverly on May 2nd at 6:30 with protest signs and witch hats. Closing the MBTA with no alternative routes is damaging to local business, commuters, and those who have no other option but to use the train. Mitigation is necessary for the success of the region.

We’re still collecting donations for the new community space in The Point!

They’ve surpassed their goal and will get the match with MassDevelopment. Woo!

Walk for HAWC is on April 30th! Donate at this link.

The purpose of HAWC is to create social change by taking action against personal and societal patterns of violence and oppression. HAWC provides services and support to victims of domestic violence residing in 23 cities and towns on Massachusetts’ North Shore in order that they may make informed, independent decisions about their futures.

Learn about the MA statewide Safe Communities Act here. Next time we'll be talking more about this!

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].

I'm calling for a couple reasons. One, is to oppose HR 1628, the American Health Care Act. The latest amendment to the bill strips away essential protections for people with preexisting conditions while doing nothing to fix the AHCA's original problems.

I'm calling to express my strong opposition to any federal budget that funds increased deportation enforcement or the expansion of the detention system. The infrastructure already in place is harmful to our immigrant communities and should be reformed, not emboldened.

I'm calling in opposition to Trump's proposed budget cuts to the EPA and other programs that fight climate change and promote renewable energy. Environmentally friendly policies will create new jobs in clean energy, and are critical to the health and safety of all Americans.

I'm calling in support of the bipartisan bill H.R.975, the Respect State Marijuana Laws Act. The government should be focused on fighting the opiate epidemic, not cracking down on marijuana.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, @ # STREET, ZIP].

I'm calling to express my strong opposition to any federal budget that funds the construction of a southern border wall. There is no benefit to building a wall, and it will cost us taxpayers billions of dollars.

I’m also calling to urge the Senator to support the BRIDGE Act (S.128 if Senate, H.R. 496 if House). The BRIDGE Act will protect undocumented students and veterans from deportation, and it will allow them to continue contributing to our American communities.

Thank you for your hard work answering the phones.

5. Call the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].

I'm calling in support of [HR 1880 for House/S 806 for Senate], the College for All Act. This bill would alleviate the economic and social burden of student debt and give everyone access to an affordable college education.

I’m calling to strongly oppose [House: HR 1180; Senate: S 801], the Working Families Flexibility Act. We don't need to make it easier for employers to create unpredictable work schedules or ask us to work more than 40 hours a week without extra pay; we need real supports like paid family leave, guaranteed sick days and fair schedules.

Thank you for your time and attention.
