Now on display at HausWitch is Through the Passing Seasons, a photography showcase by local artist Thomas Rutigliano (@thomasrutiglianophoto on IG)

“When i was about seven years old, I discovered a box of photographs my father had taken in the early 1990s. I remember being captivated by them, spending hours in silence as I studied each frame. The photographs seemed to hold fragments of stories, some complete, others left open for me to imagine. I often invented own versions of what might have happened, weaving false memories into my understanding of family and time. What began as a childhood game became the foundation of my fascination with photography and its power to shape memory.
My practice now explores the relationship between memory, invention, and the photographic image. I work with mediums such as 35mm black-and-white photography, expired color film, digitally manipulated photographs and video, and black-and-white Super 8 film. Through these processes, I aim to stir feelings of nostalgia and longing, both in myself and in others, while questioning the stability of memory itself.
At the center of my work is a desire to navigate the shifting boundaries of the past, present, and future: particularly as they unfold within queer lives. Photography and Film becomes a way to unravel these layered experiences, revealing how memory can blur, distort, or be reimagined. By lingering in this uncertainty, I hope to create spaces where longing, absence, and invention coexist, and where viewers can reflect on the fragile yet powerful ways we carry our histories.”
Join us on Thursday May 7th at 7pm for an opening reception, featuring exclusive prints from the show with proceeds benefitting local mutual aid.
