A Day in The Life of Paige Curtin

A Day in The Life of Paige Curtin

Morning:

My cat Louise (aka Bubba) is VERY playful, especially in the mornings. She’s a chatty tortie and she definitely gets me out of bed, whether I like it or not! But I try to like it. Starting the day with playtime puts me in a good mood and gets my energy up. Sometimes I joke that I’m more like HER familiar than she is MINE!

I didn’t really start drinking coffee at home until my coffee enthusiast husband taught me how to make pour overs; that whole process is WAY more magical than just pushing a button on the coffee maker! I make it a potion by weighing out 22.22 grams of beans and 333 grams of water (I don’t always get the water right, which makes it that much more magical when I do). I’ll also add a gem essence depending on what I’m doing that day: Amethyst is my favorite, but Carnelian can really help me get going!

Mid-Day:

One of my days off is Friday, which is ruled by Venus. I show my devotion to her loving/abundant vibes in a few ways: either by visiting my Nana and making her tell me stories about her life, hitting the thrift stores (always bring a donation as an offering if you’re looking for something special!), or helping my community in some way. We collect money at HausWitch for our local direct aid groups, so I like to designate Fridays for supply shopping! I usually grab value packs of snacks or other requested items for the Salem Survival Program standout at Riley Plaza on Saturdays- if you’ve ever fed quarters to our famous Mystery Crystal Machine, you’ve helped us do that!!

On a VERY good Friday I’ll hit Bit Bar for some pinball and arcade games ( I keep my tokens on one of my many altars for good luck, and if you need proof that it works just check the high score list on Burger Time for the initials PAC!) before heading to Cinema Salem for a late-afternoon scary movie (and popcorn). Nothing feels more magical to me than watching a movie in the theater!

Evening:

Before I go to bed I try to set myself up for a good morning. When my bedroom or living room/kitchen is messy, I find it hard to drag myself out of bed until the very last second. But when I remember to tidy up, sweep, and wipe down my surfaces with some Counter Magick I’m much more enthusiastic about getting up early enough to actually enjoy my coffee + playing with Bubba! I also love a bath or shower before I get in bed, to cleanse myself of the day. Tingly herbs like Mint are my favorites for nighttime even though they're known for being invigorating!

I’m obviously always tempted to scroll Instagram and Reddit before bed, but that gives me weird dreams and keeps me up later than I should be. So instead I try to put my phone away about 30 mins before I get sleepy, light a candle and read an actual book! I usually have one fiction and one reference book going at a time, and this year I’ve been dedicating myself to re-reading my extensive library of witchy texts. Currently I’m reading Hagstone by Sinéad Gleeson and making my way through old editions of The Witches’ Almanac.
