What: Capricorn Full Moon
When: 7/10 - 4:37 Salem, MA
Where: 18º Cancer/Capricorn
The Astro Jargon:
The Capricorn Full Moon takes place on Thursday July 10th at 4:37 PM over Salem, MA. There’s not a ton going on with this lunation. In fact the only aspect applying to this Full Moon is a friendly, but separating trine to Mars.
Traditionally, the Capricorn Full Moon is one that stirs something in us that wants to get real.
It’s the rumble from the stomach after a long day at the beach, reminding us that we need to go home for dinner. It’s the blisters from the sunburn because we didn’t reapply sunblock. It’s a reminder of the unyielding responsibilities in our lives that must be honored.
It is also an invitation to recommit ourselves to the things in our lives that matter *to us*. The things we really care about, and want to invest in. It may be Capricorn, but it’s still the moon, right?
But this Capricorn Full Moon hits a little different. The ruler of this Moon is Saturn, who isn’t exactly in the best position to do Saturn stuff right now. Not only is Saturn in Fall in Aries (which makes it hard to commit), it’s Conjuct Neptune (which tends to get everything it touches a little drunk), and is moving incredibly slow as he is just about to station retrograde in a few days. This isn’t a Saturn that is able to accomplish much of anything at the moment.
Now I know what you’re thinking: ‘but that trine to Mars, that’s gotta give us a little juice, right?’. Not quite this time. It’s not inherently terrible, but this Mars is applying to the South Node, which acts like a bucket with a hole in it, draining anything it touches. So it's not quite as energizing as it otherwise would be.
The last thing I noticed is that after the Full Moon, the Moon goes Void of Course until the next day. The Moon is Void of Course when it doesn’t make any more aspects before it leaves a sign. The Void of Course Moon is a time where things that are initiated often don’t come to fruition. It is a Moon who is wandering freely with no tethers. It is generally considered by Astrologers to be a time not to start things. Joan Quigley, the Astrologer for Ronald and Nancy Reagan during his Presidency, was said to have advised them to schedule meetings of things they didn’t want to actually happen during the Void of Course Moon.
The Meaning:
So, all in all, this Full Moon looks like a time to not do much. To let your mind wander, but not commit. Get curious about the things in your life that you have been committing yourself to, and ask yourself if any of them want to die? Just to ask, not to make any decisions, but just to ponder.
I hope this Capricorn Full Moon finds you well. Sending lots of love your way
Till next time
