Gemini season begins this year on Tuesday 5/20 at 2:55pm in Salem Massachusetts. At the time of the ingress, Libra is rising, putting the sun in the whole sign sign ninth house. This means for Salem witches, this Gemini season is a great time to expand your spiritual horizons, explore a new spell book, travel to a foreign land, sit at the feet of a wise elder, start/join a coven, or any and all of the above.
For our long distance witches, this Gemini season is jam packed with action. All seven of the traditional planets change signs, and almost all of them experience either domicile, exaltation, or fall (save for Mars and the Sun).
There are a lot of transits to talk about, and I can’t do them all full justice in this limited space we have together. If you’d like more information on all of them as they happen, I highly recommend the Chani app. It is seamless astrological excellence IMHO, but for now, what I’m feeling called to riff on is the Northen Bending.
The bendings are the points 90º from the north and south node, meaning they square the nodes. The bendings are points of tension, similar to how the nodes (which are where eclipses happen) are points of tension. The north node is a point of insatiable hunger, and the south node is a point of sweeping release. The Northern Bending is tied to the North Node as it is the opening square from that point.
Since the nodes of the moon are in the Virgo Pisces axis this year, with the North Node in Pisces, this Gemini season puts the sun at the Northern Bending.
The Northern Bending is a place where things can feel stuck because they are never quite finished. Having the sun touring this part of the sky brings a feeling of tension to it, and a bit of stickiness around the things we are wanting to call in, or are hungry for in our lives. It holds a degree of impatience, anxiety, and lack. Is it coming? Why isn’t it here yet? Will it ever show up?
We’re already are experiencing a bit of skepticism around the authorities or responsibilities in our lives with Neptune in Aries, and Saturn joining later this week. This Gemini season stirs the warrior in us to question what it is we really want, and start really riffing on what it would take to get there. With Mercury not only being in Gemini, but having its superior cazimi in Gemini, this is a Mercury who is firing on all cylinders with ideas and game plans.
By June, Venus goes from being in detriment in Aries (which is tough) to domicile in her home sign of Taurus, and things start to get a little sweeter. The tension eases a bit as we remember how nice it is to be in the now. After all, change happens slowly over time, so remembering how to enjoy the now is always the ticket.
Then by the end of June, Jupiter moves from being in fall in Gemini to exaltation in Cancer, which is huge news. Jupiter is the greater benefic and moves much slower than Venus. Where Venus gets to experience exaltation once a year, Jupiter hasn’t been exalted since 2014. We will have Jupiter in Cancer for the next year, and I am sure many astrologers will expand on that, but know that this is a big transit and we will all surely feel it over the course of the next year. For a more zeroed in breakdown of the astrology, you can find your horoscopes below.
Please read for your rising sign:
Aries: Now is a great time to question get out of your head, and into your favorite local coffee shop. With Saturn entering your first house of self, uou’re beginning a long journey with the concept of responsibility, and becoming your own authority. Perhaps you’re looking to upgrade your home, and considering what it would take to make that happen. This Gemini season, anchor into the community around you and your local routines as you seek clarity on what it is that makes home feel like a sanctuary.
Taurus: Your desire to engage/expand your social circle may be impacting your budget. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but this is a good time to check in with your finances and make sure you’re spending in alignment. You’re lookin’ and feelin’ cute with Venus in domicile in your first house of self, so this is a great time to dig out the depths of the back of your closet, get creative, and fall back in love with things you haven’t pulled out in a while. Feeling cute doesn’t have to mean something new.
Gemini: It’s your time to shine, baby! With the sun touring your first house of self, you have a renewed sense of vigor and gusto. Try not to beat yourself up with stress about career advancements. Rome wasn’t built in a day, as it were. Balance your boundless energy with some deeply recharging alone time. Maybe time to invest in that memory foam meditation cushion?
Cancer: This Gemini season is a great time to pull the plug. Instead of answering the escapist call to book a trip, call in some of that sick time and get some deep rest. If at the end of your rest, you still want to book the ticket, by all means go for it, but make sure you’re booking it from a place of expansion rather than a place of escapism triggered by a stress cycle that keeps you getting nowhere fast.
Leo: With a sigh of relief, Mars is finally leaving your first house of self. In the meantime, get out there with friends and make some new connections. Join a new group, sign up for a dodge ball league, knitting club, maybe even starting a new job. Whatever it is, go out there and make some new friends.
Virgo: All work no play makes Jack a dull boy! While you may be reaping some recognition for in your professional life, make sure it’s not coming at the cost of your sanity, or your relationships. Lean into your favorite people this month to recharge the batteries. Your hard work is not going unnoticed, but should never come at the cost of your sanity.
Libra: If there was ever a time to fall in love abroad, it’s now! Book the trip, flirt your heart out, fall in lust, and deal with the realities later. You’re entering a time period of examining the balance between your relationships and your career which will be playing out for a couple years, but for now, kiss first and ask questions later. ;)
Scorpio: You’ve got a lot of big questions to brood over this Gemini season. Give it to ‘em in style and pull out your gothiest fits while you round out the time of having your ruling planet in flashy Leo before you start drawing up the plans of action for all the things you are parsing through in your intimate relationships right now.
Sagittarius: You, and your relationships are about to start feeling a whole lot more bountiful. This Gemini season is a great time to ask yourself how you’re showing up in your closest relationships, and if you feel good about that. Or better yet, ask your partners for feedback. There may have been anxiety in the relationships you’ve been forming over the last year, but don’t be shy to go all in and get to the deepest levels now. As you know better than anyone, the best gifts always lie in the depths of our truths.
Capricorn: No more mister nice goat, you know what I mean? If you have been taking on too much responsibility for others the last couple years, its time to draw back and center into self.*insert oxygen mask anecdote*. You may find yourself at max capacity of stress this season, and it’s a great time to check in with what you are taking responsibility for, and if that is still in alignment, or if you need to make some adjustments. Creative activities, playing with kids, or whatever you like to do to experience joy are the medicine this season. Cuz all work no play makes Cap a dull goat.
Aquarius: It’s time to call in sick and get out in the yard and blow some bubbles. Gemini season is a time to reconnect with your inner child and have some fun. Bust out the watercolors, go for a swim, play dress up at your best friends house, make fun of strangers from afar, whatever it is that makes you feel silly and free, it’e time to anchor in to your silliest goose and soak up the sun.
Pisces: There’s no place like home during Gemini season. Get creative and re-arrange the furniture, paint the bathroom yellow, or just pull your favorite book off the shelf and give it a read. Whatever it is, just make sure you check in with your house mates before making any sweeping changes. You’re likely feeling a pull towards independence, but remember that that doesn’t have to come at the cost of consideration.
